I shied away from red lipstick and winged liner for much too long.
Often opting for a more natural look, I forget how much fun it is to step out of my comfort zone and play with a bit of colour. I've been obsessed with anything nautical lately, so I felt inspired to incorporate that theme into my makeup?
Instead of the typical black winged eyeliner, I wanted to try something a bit different and make my blue eyes pop. I lined my lashes with a white eyeliner from MAC and mapped out a subtle wing. I then carefully pressed MAC's Contrast over the white eyeliner. This created a softer, more subtle wing, while still making my lash line look more defined and making my eye colour stand out. Using a white liner, made the blue eye shadow look much more pigmented and it also made making the wings match a breeze! I then lined my lips with MAC's Brick lip liner and applied Stilas Stay All Day Liquid lipstick in Tesoro. I wanted a matte finish as those formulas don't smudge or smear, making wearing a red lipstick a less daunting task.
Incorporating Navy and Red into my makeup never seemed so simple, and I loved the overall look. Taking a beautiful theme and turning it into inspiration can give you some creative ideas. I never thought about pairing a navy liner with red lips, but I wish I could have thought of trying it sooner.
Try getting creative and stepping out of your comfort zone. You'll be surprised with what you can achieve.
