Lets Talk About Bobbi Brown

6.10.2014

Bobbi Brown never seems to go wrong.

There aren't many brands that out there where I can create an entire full face of makeup using exclusively their products, but Bobbi Brown is definitely an exception.

I have been so impressed by pretty much everything I have tried from Bobbi Brown, from the formula of their foundations, the pigmentation of their blushes to their incredible shimmer bricks - There is quality in every single product.

FOTD - Shimmery Pink Eye Makeup

9.22.2013

My typical everyday makeup is a basic neutral eye, mascara and luminous skin with a light coverage. I don't tend to do different makeup looks unless I am going out or if its a special occasion but today I felt like mixing things up a bit. I have these beautiful Bobbi Brown palettes and cream eyeshadows that don't get used very much, however today I felt like I needed a change from my day-to-day routine and I felt inspired by these colours. I wanted to completely change up my routine so I started with some Chanel skincare, starting with the Chanel Eau Doucher Cleansing Water Balance and followed with the Hydramax + Active Serum and Bobbi Brown hydrating eye cream to moisturise my skin. We are transitioning from Summer to Autumn (Fall for you American readers) and my skin is feeling the effects of the weather change so it needed a hydrating base.

I started with my new Luminous Moisturising Treatment Foundation from Bobbi Brown. Today was my first day using it and I found it very moisturising, it felt more like a tinted moisturising than a foundation with great coverage, but it does has lavender scent so it might not be great for those with sensitive skin. I then used my Bobbi Brown corrector and added colour to my face by using Nars Laguna Brozner, Nars Orgasm Blush and MAC Soft and Gentle Mineralise Skin Finish.

The eyes were the most exciting part of this makeup look, I used Bobbi Brown's Long-Wear cream shadow in Bone all over from the lid as a base and followed with Long-Wear cream shadow in the shade Ballet Pink on the eye lid. To make the pink more opaque and add intensity to the look I applied Ballet Pink Sparkle Eye Shadow over the top of the cream shadow base and lightly dusted Caramel Eye Shadow through the crease as a transition colour. I finished the look with a thin line of eyeliner by Lancome, a few coats of YSL's Shocking Mascara and lastly YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in shade 13.

Sadly I couldn't get a good quality picture of the eye makeup because my DSLR camera broke a few weeks ago and I am stuck using a digital camera for now - and of course the battery died before I could get a decent picture. The picture doesn't do the eye shadow any justice in the slightest but it is such a pretty shade. If you are near a Bobbi Brown counter swatch this colour, you'll probably have to buy it there and then.

Bobbi Brown Navy & Nude Palette

8.17.2013

At the beginning of this month I picked up the Bobbi Brown Navy & Nude palette to add to my never ending collection of nude eyeshadows. I don't like to wear crazy colours on my eyes so nude colours are my go-to. I was interested in this palette because it has a mixture of nude, pink and darker shades as well as matte and satin finishes so you could create a few versatile looks.

In this palette you get 8 different shades - a matte white (ivory), matte light brown (cement), shimmery gold (blazing star), satin light gold (beige), shimmery pink (twilight pink), matte pink (naked), matte gray (slate) and finally a matte navy (rich navy). You get a good mix of shades so you could create a very natural look for the day and smoke it out with the darker shades for the evening.

Ivory is a great highlighter shade for under the brown bone and an all over lid colour, paired with cement and naked through the crease it creates a very neutral day time look. Twilight pink and beige both have a satin finish to them which makes them a perfect for both day time and evening looks. I would place these shades on the very centre of the lid to bright up the eye and make your eyes appear bigger! Blazing star is a lovely glittery shade, its not as opaque as it looks in the pan however it does leave a very subtle gold glitter on the lid that isn't over powering or messy as I find most glitter shades to be. Its a build-able colour so you could use your finger to pack on more colour in the evenings to create a more intense look. Finally slate and rich navy are colours that can be used smudged into the lash line as an eyeliner or blended through the crease to create more depth and intensity.

Neutral eye using Ivory, Cement, Beige and a mixture of Slate and Navy as a liner

Overall I like this palette. The colours are not as pigmented as I expected they would be, seeing as it set me back £48, but they are build-able and blend nicely together. Bobbi Brown as a brand have impressed me with everything I have purchased over the last few years and this palette is something I'm happy I purchased and will be using up. If you wear a neutral look on a day to day basis and don't mind splurging a little then I would check this palette out. It has all the shades you'll need and its packaged well so you can throw it in your bag if you are on the go.

New In: Bobbi Brown Navy and Nude Palette & Hydrating Eye Cream

8.05.2013

On payday I treated myself to a little something I have been eyeing up for the last few weeks. I stumbled across the new Navy & Nude palette on the Bobbi Brown website a few weeks ago and fell in love with the colours. I am a sucker for nude eye shadows, one of my makeup draws is overflowing with nude pigments and shades - so I technically don't need anymore but I justified this purchase by telling myself you can never have too many eye shadows, right? This palette is gorgeous, and I am a huge fan of Bobbi Brown products so this is a very welcome little product into my makeup collection.

The palette comes with 7 nude shades and one navy shade. So far the three matte, neutral shades in Ivory, Cement and Slate have been my go-to shades for my everyday makeup. These shades create the perfect day 'no makeup' makeup look, which is what I typically go for when I want my makeup to look more toned down, fresh and dewy. I will do a full review on this once I have created more looks with the shadows and tested how versatile it really is. So far I am very impressed with the pigmentation and formula of these shadows. It has an expensive price tag, but if you are looking for nude eye shadow palette, this will be a great staple piece in your collection.

I was also in need of a new eyecream. Now, I had not found my holy grail eyecream, and I don't want to speak to soon, but after trying and testing many different eye products I may have found it. I want to give it a test run for a little longer, but so far I love this product. Its very think and creamy, and extremely hydrating. The thick consistancy means a little bit of product goes a long way, so this should last me a while. I'm only in my 20's so I don't need to think about anti-aging just yet, so this little eye cream is perfect for now. Super hydrating and so far it works!
