Finally our internet is back so I can write a well over due blog post! I've been somewhat of a lipstick hoarder for the past few years. Im a sucker for a MAC counter and I can spend hours swooning over the lipsticks (often picking up shades I already own) looking for the perfect new addition. I wanted to write a post about all of the MAC lipsticks I own because I think these are extremely helpful to other makeup lovers, and this may have you adding a few names to your wish list - sorry! Despite the amount of makeup I own, I tend to go through phases of graviting towards certain products. I'm not one to do 'monthly favourites' because I find that I don't discover enough new products within 4 weeks to validate one post. 2015 brings exciting adventures for me, but also a spending ban as I need to spend the next few months saving up as much as I can. I'm shopping my own collection and rediscovering old treasures and falling in love with some products all over again.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer: I never brought into the primer hype and didn't tend to invest in them. It wasn't until I jumped on the bandwagon and tried the Veil Mineral Primer I realised just how amazing this product really is. Redness of the skin is my biggest problem area, and this primer completely evens it out which cuts down the amount of tinted moisturiser I need to use. Amongst concealing redness this oil free primer combats signs of again by softening the skin, smoothing out pores, adding a youthful glow and prolonging your makeup. Trust me when I say this primer is a miracle worker, and worth every penny. I will repurchase this over and over again.

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisteriser: I couldn't put into words how much I loved this tinted moisturiser. If you have been a reader for a while you will probably have seen me raving about this product constantly. It gives you a perfect looking complexion with the added bonus of skincare qualities. It has a lightweight consistency with the perfect coverage while hydrating your skin - when I wear this I get so many compliments on how fresh and dewy my skin looks! If you haven't tried this yet, I highly recommend it.

Hourglass Ambient Palette: Hourglass blushes really are worth the hype. I have never tried a blush that is formulated like the hourglass products. They are so silky and soft which make them blend into the skin seamlessly, leaving a natural looking flush to the cheeks. They have a subtle, finely milled shimmer which prevents the shades looking dull on the skin and adds a healthy looking glow. The marbled texture through the shades means you get the perfect ratio of pigmentation to shimmer, leaving you with the perfect complexion and youthful glow. 

MAC Velvet Teddy: Im sure you have all heard of this shade since Kylie Jenner revealed this is the secret behind her famous lips. I had been after Velvet Teddy for a while, and finally managed to get my hands on it recently. I have a very large MAC lipstick collection, but I didn't have many brown-nudes so this was a nice one to add to my growing stash. Velvet Teddy is an unusual shade to explain - Its a brown nude with a pinky/mauve undertone which makes this a great everyday shade. Being matte it has a pretty good staying power and luckily it isn't as drying as Ruby Woo, which makes it very wearable. 

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow: Another cult favourite, but I had to mention this because I have been obsessed with this since Christmas. Charlotte Tilbury can do no wrong in my eyes, this is the perfect bronzing and highlighting palette. The formulation of the powders are so buttery and silky which makes blending stupidly simple. The bronze shade adds a healthy warmth to the skin, sculpting the contours of the face beautifully so slim and shape the face. The highlight shade is the perfect golden-champagne, adding a subtle radiance to the high points of the face which compliments the contour shade. Everything from this product screams perfection - from the rose gold packaging to the flawless application.

Lush Eau Roma Water: I think Lush aromatherapy waters don't get enough love from the blogosphere. Eau Roma Water is my favourite toning water, leaving my skin feeling hydrated and refreshed after every use. It has a combination of Rose Water and Lavender which helps calm redness and is gentle to the skin, leaving it soothed and hydrated. 

NARS Mie Kabuki Brush: I cannot say enough good things about this brush. It applies powder products beautifully to the skin as the dome shape helps deposit makeup evenly. It has a hand-spun black wisteria handle which adds a luxurious feel and texture to the brush while preserving it's Japanese heritage. 

Jo Malone Sea Salt and Wood Sage Cologne: I have been wearing this non stop since I purchased it back in October. I wrote a post on this body spray a few weeks ago which you can find here, and I still cannot get enough of it. Its a very easy fragrance to wear and I have been obsessed with it since day one.

NARS And God Created The Women Palette: I have been loving this palette lately, not only because its convenient, but the shades are also stunning. I have been gravitating towards a brown smokey eye a lot over the last few weeks, and this palette makes it easy to achieve. You get a mixture of matte and shimmery shades which all blend together seamlessly, leaving you with the ideal, effortless smokey eye every time. 

OCC Lip Tar Annika: I have found my ideal peachy nude lip with the shade Annika. OCC Liptars are incredible products because they last forever on the lips and they are very highly pigmented. Even after a night of cocktails and eating, my lip colour looks just as perfect as when I applied it. When you first apply the product it has a very slight menthol flavour which I find really refreshing. My favourite combination lately is to mix equal parts of Annika with Ophelia.

Real Techniques 201 Pointed Crease: I have been after a brush like this for ages. I wanted a crease brush that would allow a more precise application, and the 201 brush is perfect for this because its very sturdy. The brush feels very luxurious to use and the weighted, silver plated handle allows  for more control.

My Top 15 Favourite MAC Lipsticks

I am a huge fan of MAC Lipsticks. My sister and I have around 40 altogether (oops?) but somehow, we always end up wanting needing more in our collection. MAC lipsticks are some of my absolute favourites for their formulas, pigmentation and incredible shade range. As you may have gathered, Pinks, Corals & Orange shades are my go-to choices as those are the ones that suit my skin the most. Peachy nudes are my absolute favourites for daytime wear and will always be the ones I gravitate towards the most.

Fresh Faced for Spring

Even though temperatures have barely been above freezing over the last month, the snow has started to melt, the sun is shining and I'm in the mood for Spring weather. When I think of 'Spring' makeup, I don't think of the typical pastel colours, I think fresh faced, simple and dewy. 

The weather is slightly warmer so I no longer have to deal with dry, flakey skin (yay!) Even though its not 100% perfect, I like to use a lighter moisturiser before I apply foundation to give my skin a little extra moister. My go-to in the spring in summer months is my MAC Strobe cream, is illuminating moisturiser that primes my skin for makeup and helps give my skin a dewy finish. 

I want to keep my foundation light, so of course I reach for my Bare Minerals foundation to even out my complexion and cover any redness or blemishes, but it also leaves a very natural look to the skin. For concealer I wanted something lighter than my MAC pro long wear, so I decided to try Garnier's anti dark circle roller ball. It has a cooling formula which helps soothe any puffiness under my eyes, cover my dark circles and brighten my under eye area. 

To warm up my complexion I use a tiny bit of my Laguna bronzer to add a little dimension and I dust a peach toned blush over my cheeks to give my skin a bit of life. I tend to reach for peach toned blushers in the warmer months because I find its more natural looking and more brightening than the typical pinks. 

Day-to-day, I like to keep my eyes simple, I lightly define my brows with my trusted MAC eyebrow pencil in Fling. A few coats of my Tarte's Lights Camera Lashes mascara and my NYX white eyeliner on my water line helps my eyes look bright and awake throughout the whole day.

I like to finish this look with a light pink lipstick or lip gloss and I'm good to go.

St Patricks Day Makeup Look

With St Patricks day right around the corner I thought it would be fun to do a 'St Patricks' day inspired makeup look. Here in Chicago, there is a huge Irish community, so they go all out on St Patricks Day - when I say all out, they even dye the Chicago River green. Im not even kidding, google it! 

I wanted to join in the St Patricks day fun, so I came up with a smokey green eye makeup look. I know a few of you are already thinking "green eye shadow? She's completely lost it". I am not the kind of girl to wear coloured eye shadow, and I mean I never wear eye shadows that aren't a neutral shade, but I felt inspired to play around with brighter colours, get out of my comfort zone and create a look that is wearable. Having blue eyes I just assumed from the get go that most coloured eye shadows wouldn't suit me, and I firmly stuck to my loyal neutral palettes and shades for the last few years. Surprisingly, once I started playing around with different colours and combinations I found that coloured eye shadow isn't all that scary. Now, don't expect me to start walking around with bright pink eye shadow any time soon, I don't feel that confident just yet. 

This look is perfect to get you in the spirit for St Patricks day. Its very wearable, its blended well which makes it more of a subtle hint of colour. I will most certainly be wearing this when we go downtown for the St Patricks day parade. Apparently they serve green beer... I hate the taste of normal beer, but if its green, I can't pass up trying it at least once! 

When wearing a bold eye look, its always best to start with a flawless base. I primed my skin with benefits Porefessional and spent a while blending in my Makeup Forever HD foundation to make sure my skin looked natural, but flawless. If you're going to be taking pictures, I suggest using a foundation like the Makeup Forever HD or one without SPF to prevent flashback (if theres green beer involved, there will be some priceless photographs) I concealed using my MAC Pro long wear concealer to prevent creasing, then I used a little bit of my NARS radiant creamy concealer that is in a lighter shade than my skin tone just under my eye, down the bridge of my nose and across my cheekbones to highlight that area. To contour I used Benefits Hoola bronzer and I followed with my NARS orgasm blush to add a hint of colour to my cheeks. To highlight I dusted my Hourglass powder in Diffused Light under my eyes, across my cheek bones, down the bridge of my nose, my forehead and my chin and followed with MACS Soft and Gentle to highlight my cheekbones further. For my brows I used my Sigma brow powder duo in light and my Benefit Gimmie Brow to set everything in place - definitely define your eyebrows when you're doing more of a dramatic eye makeup as it will balance everything out. 

For the eye makeup, I used MACS Painterly Paintpot to prime my eyes and make sure my eye shadows last all day and to prevent creasing. With my finger I applied MAC plumage as a base to make my green eye shadow look more vibrant. I then applied MAC Green-Smoke all of the lid in a pressing motion to ensure the colour is pigmented. I blended the two eye shadows out into my crease to neaten everything up and then applied MAC Satin Taupe through the crease to deepen it up a little and smoke it out. To deepen up the outer eye I lightly blended MAC Carbon with a fluffy brush to add a little more dimension. I lined my eyes with Bobbi Browns black gel liner and applied several coats of my Lights Camera Flashes mascara to give my lashes a lots of volume and length. I would definitely use false eyelashes with this look, but lots of mascara will do the trick if you don't have any at hand/aren't comfortable using falsies. My best trick to give your lashes lots of volume and length is to use a curl your lashes, then use a drier mascara for your first coat to separate the lashes and let the mascara dry in between coats. 

Finish the look with a nude lipstick and a sheer pink lip gloss and you're good to go!

My MAC Pro Palettes

Towards the end of 2013 I became a little obsessed with MAC eye shadows, so much so I ended up filling two Pro palettes in the space of a month... oops. I love MAC's shadows for their quality and pigmentation, they last all day and blend like a dream. For $15 a pop, their price tag may make of us makeup lovers cringe at the thought of our bank balances draining, but adding your own custom palette to your collection is worth it. In my opinion, a Pro palette is worth investing in for a few reasons, you can create your own palette using any shades you desire, you have a perfectly sized palette which keeps your shadows in one easily accessible place, its great for travelling and it also looks pretty. 

You can choose to buy each individual eye shadow in its original packaging and de-pot them (I can do a tutorial for this if you would like) so you can use the packing for the back to MAC programme and receive a free lipstick or eye shadow, or you can buy the eye shadows in their pan form for $12 instead of $15. I decided to make two palettes, one with more neutral shades for everyday wear, and one with brighter shades for when I feel like being more playful with my eye makeup. 

My Neutral Palette 

L - R bottom - top / Vanilla, Naked Lunch, Omega, Brun, Honey Lust, Charcoal Brown, Woodwinked, Mulch, Filament, Scene, Satin Taupe, Patina, Brule, All That Glitters, Blackberry. 

Vanilla - A matte cream shade with a hint of shimmer. This eye shadow is a great highlighter and also a nice base for a neutral smokey eye. 

Naked Lunch - A shimmery neutral pink shade with a satin finish. This is a staple in most makeup collections, a perfect everyday shade and it looks beautiful on the lid paired with Satin Taupe in the crease. 

Omega - A cool toned matte light brown shade, perfect crease and brow colour. Its a great transition shade when doing a cut crease or smokey eye look. 

Brun - A matte dark brown shade. This shade is great in the crease to give an eye look some depth. 

Honey Lust - A glittery honey gold shade 

Charcoal Brown - A matte brown shade

Woodwinked - A shimmery bronze shade with gold flecks and a stain finish

Mulch - A warm toned shimmery brown shade 

Filament - A glittery silver, this shade looks lovely on its own for a wash of shimmer and it looks great layered over coloured eye shadows to intensify an eye look. 

Scene - A very cool toned grey shade with blue undertones. This shade works great with blue eyes. 

Satin Taupe - A shimmery brown with flecks of pink & blue with cool undertones. This is my favourite MAC eye shadow, its a beautiful taupe shade they compliments any eye colour.

Patina - A shimmery light gold shade with pink undertones. It doesn't look like much in the pan, but this shade is a beautiful everyday colour. 

Brule - A matte cream shade which is a lovely highlight colour. 

All That Glitters - A glittery pink shade which is a similar colour to naked lunch but more glittery and intense 

Blackberry - A matte plum shade which works warms up an eye look. It works beautifully with a grey eye shadows.

My top Christmas lipsticks

MAC Impassioned, Lime Crime Coquette, YSL Rouge Volupte Nude Beige, MAC Ruby Woo

Christmas is right around the corner, I have been so busy the past week I haven't been able to relax once. Monday was a night with the girls, Wednesday was dinner and a movie and two christmas parties back to back. All of us are doing last minuet christmas shopping, wrapping countless presents and trying to find the time to get dolled up for a Christmas party is the last thing on our minds. 

Luckily there is a quick fix out there, a product that within 10 seconds it makes us appear to have our lives together... lipstick. Lipstick can completely transform your daily makeup into a go-to party look. Whenever I am in a rush to get out of the house and have to look presentable, I throw on whatever lipstick I can find first, and i'm good to go. I could sit here for hours and go on and on about what lipsticks you could wear with what makeup looks and which ones are my favourites, but no one really has the time. So instead I have decided to throw a post together including my favourite lipsticks for the holiday season. 

YSL Rouge Volupte in 1 Nude Beige

YSL Nude Beige is a pink toned nude with high shine and a very silky finish. It applies so smoothly and has surprisingly long lasting power considering its formula. I like this shade because it complements a bronzed smokey eye look beautifully. Personally I like nude pinks with a bronzed look as I think its the prettiest and adds a subtle colour to the look. This is a great lipstick for when you are on the go, as it a has a glossy finish and its moisturising you don't need to carry several lip products around with you.

Lime Crime Coquette 

Coquette is my perfect nude lipstick, its doesn't wash me out too much, but tones down the colour of my lips to accompany an intense smokey eye. This time of year I really like to darken up my eye looks now and then and create a super intense smokey eye (especially for New Years Eve). Whenever I wear dark eye makeup I like to wear a nude lipstick, as I have darker lips naturally I like to use a product that will lighten my lip shade, but not add too much colour. 

MAC Impassioned

Impassioned is a great shade for adding a pop of colour to your makeup look. If I am in a rush, I love to use hot pink shades to brighten up a makeup look. Pairing a bright lip with a natural eye is a great way to add fun and colour to your makeup without going over board. If you are someone who doesn't like to wear a lot of colour on your eyes, a bright lipstick will tie your makeup together and It makes you look like you have made more of an effort.

MAC Ruby Woo

Of course I couldn't complete this post without adding a perfect Christmas red. Ruby Woo is my newest favourite lipstick, a cool toned red with a matte finish. Classic eye looks go perfectly with red lipstick, my favourite is a neutral eye with winged eyeliner. This shade works great with my skin tone and because of the cool tones, it actually makes my teeth look a little whiter.

Loving Lately #1

I tried doing the popular post 'Monthly Favourites', but I found I don't have enough different 'favourites' to talk about each month. Instead, I have decided to start doing 'Loving Lately' posts, where I post my latest favourite products when I decide I have enough to write about. Otherwise I would just be writing the same post over and over, which is no fun for any of us. 

Let's start off with cheap and cheerful with Loreal's Micellar Water. A popular product among beauty bloggers alike and a great dupe for the Bioderma Micellar Water. I really liked Bioderma for removing my makeup, but its not the easiest to get a hold of in England. When I found this gem in Boots for a steal at £3 I had to try it - and it's just as good as everyone says it is. It dissolves all of my makeup and leaves my skin feeling cleansed and refreshed. It's a great alternative for Bioderma, it works just as well for a fraction of the price. 

I have been after some more Autumnal nail polish shades recently as most of my collection is full of pale pink shades (This is not my doing, blame my sister). Superdrug has had a 3 for 2 offer on lately, so I couldn't resist picking up some new Essie nail polishes to add to our ridiculously large collection. The shade I have been wearing the most lately is Cocktail Bling which is one of their newest shades. Its a lovely grey shade with a blueish hue which I feel is perfect for the winter season. I plan on pairing this with Nails Inc's Snowflake effect polish when it gets colder as an 'icey' looking base. 

I finally jumped on the bandwagon and got myself a Caudalie Beauty Elixir. This is one of the beauty cult products that every other beauty blogger has raved about, and of course it lived up to the hype. It's a very refreshing mist that gives you a glowing complexion. Apparently Victoria Beckham uses this to give her that dewy glow. I spray this before and after I apply my makeup to give my skin a boost of brightness. 

Also a word to the wise - Don't be an idiot like me and order it off of Net-A-Porter. The black box is pretty, but I paid £18 for the 30ml bottle when you can get it on Feel Unique for a tenner. I feel slightly cheated, but it is a great product. I just know where to shop next time! 

As I am slightly obsessed with makeup, I tend to buy products without using up the old ones I own first. This typically happens with foundation and mascara, I can't help myself. I don't tend to repurchase many of the same foundations because I go through so many I forget how good some of my favourites are. I have been using the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua as a lot recently and I think it may be my all time favourite foundation. I know myself, Im still going to end up trying out more foundations, but I know that this is one I am going to repurchase again and again. It has the most amazing, dewy finish on the skin and it lasts all day. I will do a full review on this soon, but I am absolutely in love with this product and I don't know why I went so long without trying it. It works great with the Nars Copacabana Illuminator (I always end up with the song Copacabana by Barry Manilow stuck in my head whenever I read of the name of this, please tell me i'm not alone?) I apply it to my cheekbones and wherever else I feel I need highlighting to add a subtle iridescent glow. 

When I was in Chicago a few weeks ago I ordered myself the Premium Brush Kit from Sigma as a treat for becoming qualified in Makeup Artistry. Sigma brushes are by far the best I have ever tried and at the moment my favourite is the F-20 Large Face brush. Its super soft, its big and it applies powder like a dream. It seems like a pretty basic brush to have in a favourites post, but for some reason this one has impressed me the most so far. I like the size of it, it applies a good amount of powder all over the face in seconds without disturbing the foundation underneath because its so soft. 

If you follow me on twitter you would have already heard me rave about this lipstick. 'Shy Girl' from MAC had been a love of mine for years. It's my perfect nude as I love peach toned shades. However, I recently discovered 'Peach Blossom' and now i'm in love. Its more pink toned than 'Shy Girl' but still has a peachy tone to it which makes it the perfect lipstick for me. Its a very wearable shade and compliments a brown smokey eye look perfectly! 

Finally, my MAC Pro Palette which I wrote a lot about this in my Birthday Haul post a little while ago. I have been using it every single day and it didn't take me long to fill it up. I added the shades Honey Lust, Scene and Blackberry so I can create some versatile looks with just the one palette. I am going to New York next Friday, and even though I intend to start another Pro palette, I think this will be the only one I will be taking with me as it has all of the colours I need to create most of my favourite eye looks.
